Building Something From Nothing

Invizage Technology (formerly known as PC S.O.S) has come a long way since its humble beginnings in a shared rental house bedroom.

Technology has come a long way. At the time, the two directors - Brad Bond and Paul Adler were both 21 years old and still at University. With an investment of $250 each the company was born. This start-up money was used to advertise in several local newspapers – just enough to get the ball rolling, and build something from nothing.

Juggling their time between lectures and accepting bookings on their mobile phones 24 hours a day, Brad and Paul implemented all kinds of technologies and built relationships with clients. Paul still remembers his first client : “she was a middle-aged woman wanting to get onto the internet and use chat programs – she emailed me several months later to tell me she was leaving her husband and moving to Canada where she had met someone on the internet!!!”

Initially, Invizage Technology focussed on fixing clients immediate computer problems (usually replacing parts, upgrading technologies, or helping clients connect to the internet). In a relatively short time, clients began recognising the value of Invizage – their computers ran much more smoothly.

More services were requested and so Invizage Technology’s repertoire expanded to include telephone and electronic helpdesks, Information Technology audits, strategic IT planning, IT consulting, and maintenance works.

In November 2003, Invizage was announced as the winner of The Age/Dunn & Bradstreet Victorian Business Award (IT Category). This award has been running since 1993 and seeks to acknowledge businesses for outstanding business achievement. It includes measures of financial performance, stability, and growth and compares these accomplishments with other companies in the same industry. Needless to say, this award is highly regarded amongst the business community and is a tribute to the entire team at Invizage.

In May 2004, Invizage Technology's commitment to providing outstanding levels of customer service were recognised when they received a Highly Commended Award in the Australian Service Excellence Awards (small business category) which are judged and presented by the Customer Service Institute of Australia. Companies recognised by this award must illustrate very high standards of management, training and a company-wide commitment to excellence. The judging was based on the international customer service standard and involved a written submission, site audit, presentation, staff interviews and a mystery shopping program.

Today, Invizage Technology has offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide (as well as affiliations with companies in all other states). The company services over 7,000 different clients, supports 850 network servers and 41,000 individual computers. Invizage Technology is also in the top 1.5% of IT Service Firms (ABS August 2000) and is one of Australia's fastest growing companies (BRW Fast 100 results, 2001, 2002 and 2003).

Through hard work and dedication, Paul and Brad have created a successful business. But more importantly, they have set up a team of employees who derive great satisfaction from helping clients make better use of technology.

“We regard our work as a reflection of ourselves and set ourselves high standards in everything we do”. Their current purpose is to be “the best IT Department our clients could ever have”. Their vision: to be Australia’s first choice for SME technical needs.
